Reusing Textiles
Repurposing old clothes that have circulated from the Western World to continents such as Asia, South America and Africa, I work with garments that are often disregarded. Through Southern African colour references and techniques inspired by braiding hairstyles, I transform clothing into pieces for the body, storage and interior use. The work explores how working with what is available can shape a material culture rooted in reuse and transformation.
